Year Groups

We would like to share with you a brief glimpse into what life is like in each class at Mary Elton Primary School. Although we have a very consistent approach to teaching and learning, we celebrate the fact that every child, class and teacher is unique. Class structure

On an annual basis, we arrange the children into different classes to ensure that our pupils make new friends and support their emotional wellbeing and social skills.

We do this based on many factors including, friendship groupings (that have been noted by staff), behaviours, attitudes to learning, gender and the needs of the pupils.

We also take into consideration requests by the children and parents/carers for their friendship groups. On an annual basis we send home a letter inviting parents/carers to complete, with their child, noting down the names of five peers that they would like to be in a class with for the following academic year. This is a huge undertaking for the staff, so we will guarantee one of the friendship choices requested.
