School Uniform Policy
School uniform policySchool uniform at Mary Elton comprises of:
- Navy blue jumpers, cardigans or sweatshirts
- Navy, grey or black skirts, dresses, shorts or trousers
- Black shoes
- White or blue blouses or shirts
- PE kit including T-shirt of house colour
The wearing of fleeces and hoodies are not classed as school uniform. Fleeces and hoodies can, however, be purchased for wearing outside instead of a coat.

Jewellery
The wearing of jewellery such as necklaces or pendants is not permitted for safety reasons. For children with pierced ears, only studs or sleepers may be worn in school and they need to be covered with tape during PE lessons.
Hair and make-up
Hair dying/colouring is not appropriate for school (unless there is a special reason such as school charity events). Similarly, extreme haircuts, excessive use of hair products are to be avoided. Make-up, including nail polish is not appropriate to be worn by pupils to school. All long hair needs to be tied back for every PE session.
PE
Children within KS1 and KS2 are required to come to school dressed in their PE kits on the days that they have their PE lessons. Children with long hair are required for it to be tied up on these days.
